National Parks

With 79 national parks, 89 wildlife and non-hunting sanctuaries and 35 forest reserves, the country is a
haven for nature lovers.

The oldest and most visited park is Khao Yai, 175 km northeast of Bangkok. Spanning some 2,000 sq. km it is home to elephants, tigers, Malayan sun bears, gibbons and barking deer. There are more than 2,000 plant species, including rare orchids, which bloom from December to May.

Many parks offer hiking trails and camping facilities.
